An Anti-Aging Tool
In January 2006 the first of the Baby Boomers turned 60! Here
in the United States those born during the boom years of 1946
to 1964 can on average expect to live to be 83 years old. The
largest population group in US history, one in four Americans
is a baby boomer. Last year some 12 million people spent approximately
$20 billion on cosmetic surgery and non-invasive procedures
at medical spas in efforts to reclaim and maintain their youth.
Unfortunately, this exterior makeover may be overshadowed by
years of neglect of their interiors!
According to the US Census Bureau, this first phase of retiring
boomers may be in worse health than their parents. While cautioning
that the data is just starting to emerge, researchers point
to one finding showing two-thirds of Americans are overweight.
This trend raises the risk of debilitating health problems such
as stroke and heart attacks. Extra weight also causes joints
to wear out more quickly causing pain when walking or exercising
thus increasing the likelihood of becoming even less active!
Quality of life has become a real issue for most boomers generating
research by some in the medical and scientific world into different
modalities to extend and improve the quality of life after 50.
Probably one of the most feared affects of aging is diminished
brain function including dementia and Alzheimer's disease. According
to Alexandre Bennett, a clinical neuropsychologist specializing
in geriatrics, people fear losing brain function more than death.
It steals your personality and turns you into somebody that
requires total care, . said Bennett. Another study shows seniors
fear diminished brain function more than heart disease. Since
28% of the US population is between 45 and 62 it's no small
wonder that research into maintaining brain function has lead
to more proactive, preventative anti-aging therapies. At Oxygen8
we believe Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is one of them.
Dr. Richard Neubauer, author of New Frontiers: Anti-Aging Properties
of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy suggests HBO treatments may restore
function in areas of the brain that are low in oxygen pressure
and may be responsible for some of the symptoms of diminished
brain function such as memory impairment. By doing SPECT (Single
Photon Emission Computer Tomography) scans of the brain before
HBO treatments and following HBOT treatments, Neubauer has shown
the impact of oxygen delivered under pressure to the brain.
(See below) In many of his patients treated for age related
issues, Neubauer also notes some symptoms of aging were evident
and subsequently cleared by HBO therapy.

Anti-Aging Treatment - Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy at Oxygen Zone
Anti- aging medical experts know that many illnesses connected with aging could be avoided or slowed down through optimal cell health. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy helps to create the optimal environment for cell essential processes. View entire story
Mild Hyperbaric Therapy As An Immune Modulator
Mild Hyperbaric Oxygen treatment (mHBO) in a portable chamber, at 1.3 ATA and 24% oxygen, administered daily for ten consecutive sessions (1 hour each) improves brain function as measured by SPECT brain scan and a test for attention and reaction time.
Patients often report a sense of well-being and youthfulness after mHBO therapy.

New Frontiers-Anti-Aging Properties of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
Restoring brain functioning is one of many important goals of anti-aging therapies. Richard A. Neubauer,
MD, one of the authors of this article suggested in the late 70s' that Hyperbaric Oxygen can stimulate a
reactivation of the zone around a special region surrounding the central area of a stroke or brain injury
site, known as "ischemic penumbra." View entire story
