The Basics of Mild Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
Hyperbaric is defined as: relating to, or utilizing greater
than normal pressure especially of oxygen. Hyperbaric therapy
increases the intake of oxygen in the body and dissolves that
oxygen into all of the body's fluids, including the blood. Mild
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (mHBOT) utilizes a system that pumps
ambient air into a chamber that pressurizes to depths of 1.3
atmospheric pressure or 11 feet below sea level. As this occurs,
the increase of oxygen under pressure delivered to the body's
tissues, organs and brain promotes our natural ability to fight
off every day factors that can wear it down.
Oxygen and the Human Body
Oxygen is vital for health, it is the single
most important element your body needs and is a primary source
of energy.
The body can survive without food for three
weeks, without water for three days, but without oxygen for
only three minutes. Only 10% of our body's energy comes from
food and water and 90% comes from oxygen.
Oxygen is essential!
